About the Gardens:
Barefoot Gardens offers group writing, art, music, and poetry day retreats. Spend a day with some of Michigan’s best authors, artists, musicians, and poets. Individual writing consultations with award winning author, Cyndi Harper-Dieters are available. Cyndi’s flexible schedule makes it easy for you to work with her.

Barefoot Gardens is just 15 minutes NE of the Kent County Airport near historic Ada, Michigan. Although the 4500 square foot Southern Colonial captures the top of the property’s hill, nothing boasts more resoundingly than the gardens that lie hidden behind it.

Barefoot Gardens weather protected areas inspire the artist in you just as much as the gardens do. Perhaps the cinnamon washed walls of grandma’s porch will remind you of her apple pies. Mediterranean furniture gracing the sitting room allows you to sit and appreciate the art depicting woman’s earthly journey. The southwestern gathering room is a place to be with a friend or two, or just you and the Lord. You could let the fireplace bring forth poetic embers as you rest in the library. Snack in the dining hall or visit on one of the covered decks.

Barefoot Gardens:  A place to soak and pray renewing and refreshing your heart, soul, spirit, mind and body.

Majestically the willow sways effortlessly over the garden's arbor. The gates open and birds’ song serenade the elegant gracefulness. The East Garden scents lure you along the seashell bordered garden walk.
On its mosaic floor, the breakfast patio overlooks the herb garden where therapeutic sage and lavender aroma hang in the air. Flanked with all season bushes, butterflies, hummingbirds, and dragonflies eat more than breakfast in this room.
Texan pottery and large rocks along with the yellow ground cover protect hidden floral treasures In Michael’s Garden. Smoky greetings fill the air offering a warm place on the hearth of the stucco fireplace below in the Southwestern Garden Room.
Through the morning glory covered iron Wedding Arbor, paths lead into the Memorial Garden. After a walk along the red, white, and the blue, you can romance in the wedding garden, or watch wildlife play in the sixty-foot tall pine trees along the North Garden.
The sounds and sights of the Water Garden's stream, fountain, and waterfall will wash away your worries and refresh your soul.  The Prayer and Meditation garden offers seclusion for prayer, reflection, and meditation.

BAREFOOT GARDENS' FAITH STATEMENT

We believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ His Son born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14), and the Holy Spirit (the Trinity; Mark 1:10-11).  We believe there is no other way to the Heavenly Father, but through Jesus Christ (John 14:6).  We believe that God became flesh (John 1:1 and John 1:14) as Jesus Christ and walked among men living a sinless life (2 Corinthians 5:21).  He was crucified, and died, and rose on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:4) and now sits at the right hand of God interceding for us (Romans 8:34).  We believe that Jesus Christ came for all that would call on His name and receive Him as their personal savior (John 3:16).  We believe that the Word of God - - - The Bible - - - was inspired and authorized by God (2 Timothy 3:16).  Furthermore, we believe the Holy Spirit dwells inside those saved through the blood of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 6:19) for the purpose of guiding our lives and giving discernment in our everyday life (John 14:26).  We believe that miracles and the healing powers of Jesus Christ are still available to this generation as it was in the past (Isaiah 53:5).  We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ (Acts 1:11 and John 14:2 - 3).
